02 RA Road Traffic Safety Law

The RA Law on Road Traffic Safety sets out road users' rights and duties: which documents a driver must carry, who counts as a passenger versus a driver, and which vehicle categories each licence class covers.

In accordance with the RA law "On ensuring road safety the passenger is:

  1. A A person, other than the driver and the driver-in-training, who is in the passenger compartment (cabin) of the vehicle (on it).
  2. B A person, other than the driver and the driver-in-training, who is inside (on) the vehicle (cabin), as well as a person who enters (sits on) or leaves (gets off) the vehicle.

In accordance with the law "On Road Safety" of the Republic of Armenia, a driver's license to drive vehicles of category "BE" can be issued to persons who have reached the age of majority:

  1. A 17 years of age.
  2. B 18 years of age.
  3. C 19 years of age.

Does the learner have to wear seat belts while driving?

  1. A Required.
  2. B Not required.
  3. C Required if it makes it difficult to drive a car.
  4. D Not required if the instructor allows to drive.

In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Ensuring Road Safety" driving license for the right to drive vehicles of category "A" can be issued to persons who have reached the age of majority:

  1. A 16 years of age.
  2. B 17 years of age.
  3. C 18 years of age.

In accordance with the RA law "On Road Safety", the "roadway" is:

  1. A A road element designed for vehicular traffic.
  2. B A road element designed for the movement of non-rail vehicles.

According to the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety", a certificate of the right to drive "D" category and "D1" sub-category vehicles can be issued:

According to the RA Law "On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety," a driving license for category "B" and "C" vehicles may be issued to

  1. A Persons who have reached 16 years of age.

According to the RA law "On Road Safety" Moped is:

  1. A A two-or three-wheeled vehicle with an engine with a displacement of not more than 50 cub.cm. and a maximum speed of not more than 50 km/hour.

According to the RA Law "On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety," insufficient visibility is considered to be

  1. A The visibility distance of the road during the dark time of day.
  2. B The visibility distance of the road in populated areas under conditions of the absence of artificial lighting of the carriageway.
  3. C Road visibility and (or) a visibility distance of up to 300 meters under conditions of fog, rain, snowfall, and (or) other weather conditions unfavorable for ensuring road traffic safety.

According to the RA Law "On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety," a public transport vehicle is considered to be

  1. A A vehicle having stopping points (stops), moving along routes, and carrying passengers and (or) luggage (tram, trolleybus, bus).
  2. B A vehicle having stopping points (stops), moving along routes, and carrying passengers and (or) luggage (tram, trolleybus, bus), as well as a passenger taxi automobile.

According to the RA Law "On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety", the following is considered a forced stop:

  1. A Traffic interruption due to unexpected switching of atraffic light signal.
  2. B Interruption of traffic due to traffic jams.
  3. C Due to the malfunction of the vehicle, the physical (and) mental condition of the driver (passenger) and (or) the transport of the cargo due to danger or other obstacle on the road.
  4. D In all the cases above.

According to the RA Law on Ensuring Road Traffic Safety, the following is considered a stop:

  1. A Up to 5 minutes or bringing the vehicle to a deliberate immobile position for the time necessary for the passenger to sit, get off and (or) load and unload the vehicle.
  2. B Immobilizing the vehicle for more than 5 minutes, if it is not related to the seating, lowering or loading or unloading of the vehicle.

According to the RA Law on Ensuring Road Traffic Safety, pedestrians are equated with:

  1. A Persons with disabilities who move around in wheelchairs without a motor.
  2. B Persons driving (pushing) a cart, sled, baby or wheelchair.
  3. C All of the above persons.

In accordance with the RA law "On Ensuring Road Safety" , a trailer (semi-trailer) is

  1. A Any mechanical vehicle that is towed by a rigid coupling.
  2. B 2. Any vehicle not equipped with an engine which is intended to be driven as a single unit in conjunction with a motor vehicle (including special attachment).

According to the RA Law "On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety," parking is considered to be

  1. A Deliberately bringing a vehicle to a stationary state for more than 5 minutes, if this is not connected with the boarding or alighting of passengers or the loading or unloading of the vehicle.
  2. B Deliberately bringing a vehicle to a stationary state for more than 5 minutes, except for cases of preventing a collision with another road traffic participant or any obstacle, boarding or alighting of a passenger, and (or) loading or unloading the vehicle, as well as other cases provided for by legislation.
